German Almond Fruit Christmas Cake – Stollen

Europe has many versions of Christmas cake and the German ‘Stollen’ has to be one of my personal favourites.

Stollen is sweet, but not overly so, and gets its flavour from the dried fruits, orange and lemon zest, nuts, and butter. Running through the centre is almond marzipan.
